Anyone get this working yet? I tried the D2_keyboard and DX_keyboard updates included with fission roms, and the updates from sephtin's site with no luck.

I only seem to be successfull in removing the android keyboard using any/all of these.

I've checked the phone after running the updates, and the files are all there, but I don't even get the keyboard for an input choice, I only see swype.

Have you checked in Settings > Input and Keyboard ?

Yeah, after each update, I checked for the keyboard as in input method for a text field, then when it wasn't there, I checked the settings -> language & keyboard section. No luck.

I've also tried the MultiTouch keyboard from the 2.3.20 leak, no joy there either... It's on my list of things I'd like to get working for people. Not officially supported with the ROM... *shrug*.. but would still like to get it working...

Anyone notice that when their phone is asleep, the home key will still turn the screen on and the search key will activate voice search? This is causing battery drain and haptic feedback in my pocket when I'm walking around. Is there a fix?

Ahh, unfortunately... the home button turning on the screen, pulling the phone out of sleep to the lock screen is default action, don't know how to change, and the search button is actually a known bug by Moto, as explained here:
Droid 2 bug allows anyone to make calls at passcode screen [updated -- Droid X, too] | Android Central

Fix for the search thing using HomeSmack (Which also gets you back your double press on home button functionality in Focused as well... nice app!
[APP] HomeSmack - Change double-tap Home and Long-search - xda-developers
(This was recommended by someone in the Focused 1.6 thread. To you, thanks again! ; )

You can also install Widgetlocker which gives much more control over the behavior of the buttons when your phone is asleep. Same dev as the exemplary Homesmack.

I am not sure I am trying to use the hole bootloader and I keep getting a error this is getting frustrating.

I think that error is actually normal.. stating that the recovery has been modified, which is ok.

Couple things to verify, whne you say you're getting into recovery, you're getting into the BLUE android recovery, not the green Clockwork recovery, correct? If so, then, if you format data, and cache from that menu, and then reboot... (don't care about errors)... you still get the bootloop, correct?

If that's the case, then the install didn't go correctly, either the file was corrupt, or something else was wrong.. and you're probably going to have to .sbf.

Thanks for all your work. If I knew anything about any of this stuff, I'd love to try and figure it out myself. I was proud to zip up and sign an update package for me when I'm running stock to tweak the cpu and memory usage.

I like swype, but when I go landscape, I can't stand how swype has such a small, out of place, spacebar. I like where the multi-touch keyboard places the spacebar.

Maybe I'll try the blurry version of the rom, I'm assuming the keyboard works there.

huh i just went straight to the sbf thing and it aint working thats where the error is what is the other part your talking about.

Pro-tip: Check out Keyboard Manager for auto changing the keyboard based on orientation (once you find a keyboard you like for landscape). Great little app, and a feature that should be baked into the stock ROM IMHO.

It goes to the rubix screen and keeps restarting. I go to use the SBF file and i click start and it fails I dont know why I just want to send it back to factory how can I do that quickly.

keep trying to SBF until it works. sometimes it can fail 10 times and work the 11th, for no real apparent reason. just make sure you are doing it correctly..

... 2.3.20 leak...

Say what?!?! dancedroid

Originally for the Droid2, TBH released 2.3.20 (froyo vers. 2.2.1) for the DroidX.. but there are a TON of things you DO NO WANT from it.. O.o It breaks stuff. It's bad (TM).

Ah, yes, my bad. I saw this:

DroidX 2.2.1 (Blur Versions 2.3.320) now available in the TBH app

Sounds delicious, but deadly to the phone with the nasty kernel check. It's a shame I love my Droid X so much, because Motorola are such a-holes about locking this thing down. Would love to see what the community can pillage from the code nonetheless.

--Are you using 2.1, or 2.2 sbf?
--When you hit "Device details" in RSD, does it show up?

Are you following the SBF instructions very, very carefully?

The thread above is your bible for getting your Droid X back. I've done some pretty bone-headed things to my phone, and the steps above have never ONCE failed me.
