Everyone on here has NEVER answered the question about powerboost. I find this pretty frustrating, due to the fact that there are MANY wuestions about it.

If any one knows exactly what it is,what it does, and why we should use it, please explain in great detail. Then, sticky the answer. I know I'd greatly appreciate it,along with anyone else that has asked.

That link in the OP goes to the "POWERBOOST" thread in another forum but it doesn't answer any basic questions and it says it's still in BETA and scheduled for release 10/11? I read some it but it wasn't making sense to us non-devs.:)

Can someone answer if we need to a wipe data/factory reset to go from 1.5 to 1.7??? I'm sitting in recovery waiting to make sure I'm doing it right. Thanks.

Noticed a severe battery drain after flashing 1.7. I didn't use my phone at all after talking it off charge this morning, at 100%. At noon, I was at 49%, currently at 16% & charging.

Anyone else? Thinking of flashing my 1.6 backup for now.

I have been watching my battery drain by the minute. I LOVE the ROM, have been flashing since the first version but this is ridiculous...I must have done something wrong. I have been reading on every forum I could find and trying battery callibration (extended and stock) since Sunday with no luck. I am a noob...is it possible to do a factory reset and start over??

Here's what I did and after flashing 1.7 and calibrating, t finally out my phone o on the charger.... 29 hrs later after moderate too heavy prime time use and basic drain over night!!! That's in the standard NOT the extended battery!

After flashing to 1.7... Download battery calibration from the market and install.
I use circle battery widget as another way To insure I'm at 100% then, while still plugged in, I hit calibrate....

As Nyteravyn says, it's a calibration issue, not a battery drain issue - well at least it was on my Bionic. Check the actual battery mV reading with an app such as Spare Parts and you'll probably find that the battery isn't being depleted that quickly.

Yes sir, wipe data per the revised op...
And powerboost essentially has the potential of increasing battery duration as Well as unthrottling you from data throttle down imposed by big red if you are a heavy user...

I'd post screen shots but it says I may not have permissions... Fails... Am I missing something?

Correct me id I'm wrong, but 'powerboost' is a script which does a couple things. Only thing I can remember off the top of my head is a cpu governor which scales high slow and quickly drops to conserve battery life. Second is it checks for mods. Does more than that I'm sure, but don't remember.

From any version prior to 1.6 like the op says, you need to do a complete wipe. That includes data, cache, system, and dalvik. I thought the instructions were pretty clear. But hey. To each his own.

You are absolutely right it is clear as a bell. People need to stop being so pushy and RTFM.

Thanks for the clarification. No it's NOT clear. When people people say "wipe all" that's not very specific. That could just as easily mean wipe cache, wipe dalvik and wipe/format system. The menu selection is actually "wipe data/factory reset". The reason I'm gunshy is I tried to "upgrade" like this before with wiping everything and it bricked.

No actually it's not. This doesn't say to "wipe data/factory reset". WTF does "this ROM will wipe not" mean? First it says to "wipe everything" whatever that means, then format /system. Why do you need to format system if you're factory resetting? Do you not see how this is confusing? And I mean this in the nicest way possible. I'm very grateful and not trying to sound like a jerk.

THIS ROM WILL WIPE NOT. IF YOU ARE COMING FROM ANY OTHER ROM YOU MUST ALSO WIPE EVERYTHING, AND IN CLOCKWORK UNDER "MOUNTS AND STORAGE" FORMAT /SYSTEM.

FOR UPDATES: ALWAYS WIPE CACHE, DALVIK AND FORMAT /SYSTEM.

INSTALL THE ROM AND WALK AWAY!!! LET THE ROM SETTLE!!! RUSHING THE KERNEL WILL ONLY CAUSE YOU ISSUES. AND THE BIGGEST WARNING... KEEP BOTH HANDS ON THE DEVICE AT ALL TIMES.

STEP BY STEP... FOLLOW THIS OR BE NUKED!!!

IN CLOCKWORK:
WIPE CACHE
UNDER MOUNTS AND STORAGE, FORMAT SYSTEM
UNDER ADVANCED, WIPE DALVIK

I followed the directions perfectly, & everything runs perfectly, except the battery issue. After my battery is fully charged, I'll flash it again & recalibrate.

Coming from 1.6, I should only have to wipe cache, dalvik, & format /system, right?

If you watch what is wiped during a factory reset and wipe, system is not one. Hence the need to wipe system as well. The factory/data wipe wipes personal data and caches not system files.
