[ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

I'm fairly certain that the full .320 SBF does work with bootloader 30.03, so there's always that option.

Then, coming from .320, all you need to do is root and install bootstrap and hop over to ApeX, which will move your system version up to .340.

Probably would still want the new kernel version too.

Is there anything wrong with this rom?

I'm serious. I haven't found one thing in this rom that isn't perfect. I've had not force closes, no random reboots.

The theme is amazing and battery life is outstanding.

I'm not even sure what could go into a new version to make it any better.

My only simple small wish (probably harder than it sounds) if for Voice Commands to be removed. I hate that program. Removing it manually kind of works, but not via a BT headset :(.

Anyhow, Great work Fabolous.

Honestly, I've wished this and asked this of every ROM I have used. Use the downloadable Google Voice Search for the default when you are using a bluetooth headset. IE when I push the bluetooth button it launches the Voice Search program. The voice command program is absolutely awful in recognition, and the Droid X does a decent job, it only takes an hour and a half (a small bit of sarcasm) to start up. Why we can't make voice search the default I have no idea!

Edit: I previously was using Chevy's Rom and thought it was great. But due to the lack of support for the upgrade move to Apex. Apex kicks ***. The best I've used yet.

just facebook and the first google account it requires. and i am using... various power widgets. i tried a few to see if just the first widget wasnt compatible with the rom, but non of the widgets work. though im using juice defender now, so really a non issue i guess.

the problem is probalby that you're using more than one power control. you're probably turning it off with one and another is turning it back on.

Okay so now my phone batter is dying...any tricks in recharging it when the phone isn't functioning?

Two questions:

"Battery is dying": Do you mean it's not holding it's charge like it once did, or that it's just running out naturally?

"Phone isn't functioning": Do you mean the phone doesn't work or you're just not using it at the moment?

Please be a bit more specific.

Additionally, unless you believe this is directly related to ApeX 1.3, you might want to post this in the main Droid X Discussion forum

EDIT: Never mind. I saw your previous posts about trying to get the ROM installed. If you are unable to boot into a ROM (any ROM, including stock), you will not be able to charge the battery.

You have two options:

1) Buy a wall charger that can charge the battery OUTSIDE of the phone
2) Find a friend with a Droid X and have them charge your battery in their phone

So my batter is no longer holding a charge. I went ahead and downloaded RSD Lite V4.8 along with the .320 sbf file. I'm getting the "batter low cannot program" beneath the bootloader error code.

Midday update:

If you want to try out overclocking via terminal, try the following:

Download the .zip attached and extract the contents of the ApeX folder onto your sdcard/ApeX

Then, in terminal:

Code:
su
sys -rw
cp /sdcard/ApeX/overclock.ko /system/lib/modules
cp /sdcard/ApeX/overclock /system/bin
cp /sdcard/ApeX/overclock.sh /system/xbin
chmod 644 /system/lib/modules/overclock.ko
chmod 755 /system/bin/overclock
chmod 755 /system/xbin/overclock.sh
sys -ro
overclock

And also, you can now get the actual LWP from the Nexus S here:

[App] Nexus S live wallpapers.apk - xda-developers

Download the LiveWallpapers.apk file to your sdcard, then in terminal emulator:

su
install LiveWallpapers.apk

have fun ;)

Yes you will probably lose them as you're best off wiping /data and rolling back to 2.3.15 stock before doing the OTA

There's been enough changes between 1.0 and 1.3 that you might not end up with a stable setup if you keep /data as is

I just installed 1.3 and its my first custom rom and I really like it. The only problem im having though is I used to use jrummy's app to overclock. Now it wont work and just reboots and im not sure if its because of the rom ir new ota update? Anyone know?
