[ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

Hey fab first off i just want to thank you for this rom it is awesome...now i have a question i use Handcent sms and when i get a notification from handcent there is a little red notification bubble with howmany unread texts i have. it covers the whole notification pretty much and its kind of annoying for me...is there a fix for this? Thanks

agreed. this is pretty much the last kink in my system. underclocked and lower voltage still gives me more speed the the stock DX, plus some other battery saving techniques i found here, the beautiful black bar, and the custom settings for ADW have made my phone a pleasure to use again.

one question. is it possible to shorten the pre boot android (shimmering, awesome fonted "android") animation? the ROM is ready to roll before the animation is done!

I just installed 1.3 and its my first custom rom and I really like it. The only problem im having though is I used to use jrummy's app to overclock. Now it wont work and just reboots and im not sure if its because of the rom ir new ota update? Anyone know?

its not because of the rom or ota, sounds like an installation problem or you might be setting your overclock too high (which would cause a reboot).

i'm using 1.3 on the .34ota and i have no problems using jrummy's app

I have reinstalled the app a couple of times after wiping.the data and still get a message saying the module wasnt installed. Do I have to run the overclock scripts and.then use the app? Sorry I'm new to roms

I love the look, and feel of this ROM. My ONLY complaint is with the text messaging and facebook syncing. Maybe im missing something, so please direct me to the proper fix if i am. But is there a way to sync only my facebook profile pics with contacts, and not add in other facebook contacts to that were not previously there? Please help, I dont wanna switch ROMs just for this. Thanks in advance

Currently there's no way to do this, because Blur manages Facebook syncing, and it's all or nothing. However, you will notice that contacts inside the phone apps are the friends with phone numbers, they only all show up if you access them through the contacts app.

I hear there's a hacked Facebook app that will allow syncing only friends with contacts (bypasses Blur), but I haven't found it (didn't look too hard though).

Pretty sure there's an option in Handcent to have the counter or not. Either way, there's not much I can do about that, it's up to the Handcent devs.

As for the bootup animation, there actually isn't one at all. That's the default animation Android provides if another isn't available. There's no way I know of to modify it.

Make sure you have the 'use new module' option checked, that is crucial for .340

Two questions for you all,

1) Is there a way to have folders in ADW Drawer? I know i can make a folder on home and then perhaps drag it in there, but then what if i want to put more crap in there? There has to be a better way right?

2) Is it possible to modify the DEFAULT lockscreen? I mean I really like what Fab has in Apex and do not want to download any other lockscreen apps. All I want to add is a widget that lets me know how many missed calls, sms, email, calendar. That is all. I just want to add a widget to this lock screen. I have tried Executive Assistant, Lockbot, myLock...none of them do what I want. They all add another lock screen. Executive Assistant is the closest where they have a really cool widget I like... I just want to ADD that to current lockscreen. Does anyone know?

If you can help me, I will be in your debt. I have spent like 2-3 hours on this. GREAT rom by the way. I love EVERYTHING about it!

I had that problem, close the app, and then re open it and try it again. That solved my problem.

The little refresh circle of arrows is always in my notifications bar. It is the same symbol that is on the power control widget. I am worried that something I'd possibly using my battery Unnecessarily.
Does anyone have a fix for this?

Why are the notifications in the pull down bar white? Can they not be changed to black? I didn't see the option under UI settings.

is there anyway to install that hack were it puts the reboot on your phone when your press your power button? if so where can i get it? i dont know if itll work on stock.

There is a way to change it but you have to decompile framework-res.apk
I saw it the other night while I was messing around with some string changes. Theres two images, the Android logo and another "shine" image that creates the animation.

But yes, Fab is right, there's no quick way to change that.

Anyone know how to remove the Social Networking app?

I tried:

Uninstall SocialNetworking.apk
Uninstall SocialMessaging.apk
and
Uninstall SocialShare.apk
and no luck.

I'm fairly certain that the full .320 SBF does work with bootloader 30.03, so there's always that option.

Then, coming from .320, all you need to do is root and install bootstrap and hop over to ApeX, which will move your system version up to .340.

My phone is the one that bricked from the kernel update and now I currently have RSD v4.8 ready to go and the .320 sbf file downloaded however I am having difficulty starting the file. Any insights?

Did you wipe data and cache?
If not that might be ur problem...
