[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

Is it just me, or does your battery die even faster after hotfix2?

I went to bed at around 12:30 am with 80% battery and woke up at 6:00 am to a dead phone.

EDIT: I also noticed sometimes when I download an app, I have to do it twice. It will download the app, but won't install, it just freezes. I have to cancel the download and then download again, after that it will install as normal. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

All (also interested in Fab's response),

Given the 2.2 SBF is now available does it expedite the development of a truly blur-less/AOSP ROM (ApeX or other)?

From what I can gather the only real benefit to the SBF is the ability to recover bricked phones. By extension this is a safety net to developers that would allow them to be more aggressive in testing, but doesn't exactly provide access to anything the community doesn't already have access to...no?

Download the second hot fix to fix battery issues.

@Fabolous, is there a way to update the MotoTorch app? Appbrain tells me a new version is available, but since it is part of the ROM, I can't update it via the market.

I did that, I mentioned it in my post.

Thanks though.

So the only issue I have is my camcorder app closes when I hit the record button. Any way to fix this? So far that's it. This Rom is FAST.

@Fabolous

After applying hotfix2 I noticed that if I reboot my phone, the cpu usage on os monitor will read at 100% usage for about five minutes. I checked what apps were causing the spike in cpu usage, and the Email app was using about 55% of the cpu power, android os using about 20%...didn't bother with the rest. I killed the Email process and cpu usage stayed at 100% for a couple of minutes after that. Right now the cpu usage is within the norm.

Any ideas as to what is going on? I am wondering if this is what happened and caused my battery to drain from 80% to dead in a span of 5 1/2 hours (phone was not used at all during this time span).

Interesting find bouchigo. Curiously do you use a Yahoo! or other account via the built-in e-mail or do you use a native application like GMail?

Only thinking out loud, but perhaps this is somehow linked to the issue(s) that some folks had getting their 3rd party e-mail accounts linked up and synced with this ROM. I would be curious if someone who doesn't use the native e-mail app at all and only GMail experiences the same battery draining.

Actually yeah, I am using the Email app to sync my Yahoo! account. I am going to delete it and reboot.........see what happens.

I am also using the corporate sync (the white one) to sync my work email, I might delete that one as well to see if it changes anything.

EDIT: I have Beautiful Widgets installed too, but it has never caused any problems for me. If the email deletion does not work, I will try removing BW to see what happens.

EDIT 2: It was the corporate email that was causing the problem. I removed it and the cpu is not being taxed for five minutes as before....it's only taxed as the phone reboots and finishes loading up the system, then normal cpu usage ensues.
