[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

Www
Can I ask what exactly was done to fix the battery issues?

Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

+1....I just got back from camping with my sons BSA Troop and I was off charger @ 6:30pm Friday night with background data on and light texting with the wife and some of the boys parents. Took a few calls, and checked emails and I'm still sitting here with 20% battery (have the OEM extended).

I have to say awesome job on RC1. Don't understand the battery drain issue.

Will prolly update to RC2 tomorrow after a full nights charge. Have a question though...can I just apply zip without the format and other stuff? Don't really look forward to re-intalling all my apps.

Keep up the good work.
Format system. Mount system. Install zip. If you were themed you'll have to re-theme. All apps and data should still be there only formatting system. All went well for me.

Lacking VVM. Please get that sorted soon or this rom is no longer usable for many. Thanks!

VVM is removed in a lot of these ROMS. i also dont understand why anyone would want to pay for Verizon for a lack luster VVM when Google gives it to you free with Google Voice? you dont have to use your GV number but can use it to handle your VM and it gives you VVM, ability to look and listen to them online as well as download a voicemail as an MP3.

Off topic but how can I get Google Voice to stop sending me emails to notify me?

Its within your google voice account settings voice.google.com

I know this is off topic but does google voice intercept the voicemail or is it routed to them. and is it any better then the verizon VVM system that I pay for because if it is Ill stop paying

Does the Voive mail button on your Dial pad cause the phone app to crash and kill your radio far a short peroid of time like 5 secs

So has anyone applied this ROM with out wiping anything? I see fabs added a note for RC1 users didnt have to.

and does the panoroma work still?

please need this info as this flyx rom seems to be deteriating itself...SRSLY.

I seem to be getting more problems as it goes on. Like this morning the Music player started on its on several times.

I love this ROM!

This ROM is THE TRUTH.

This. phone. flies.

It's the way the Droid X should have been right out of the box! The speed is great, the native music player actually works well, the bloatware is gone, the phone is plain awesome!! I love it!! This is my first weekend with the ROM and I have no regrets at all. :)

Why Motorola? Why screw great hardware with your crappy software I ask!!?!

Thanks for the great work Fabolous et al! Keep it up! :D

Yes, in RC2 panorama works for me.

My battery life is slightly better with RC2, but it still seems to eat a lot and the Battery Manager claims a lot of the usage is going to "Cell Standby", which I kinda find hard to believe. Something must not be captured in the usage information.

Does anyone now how to add your own apps to the cardock like with the blur version you could add your own contacts and custom shortcut. If not can someone post a apk for the blurcardock I like the look of the new one better but there is not as much functionality. Also is there a way to use non-oem batteries I bought two batteries off ebay and they worked fine when i was on 2.1 but since the 2.2 leak and ota I havent been able to see teh % of the battery also I can not charge them with the usb cable etc.. It says that I have a invalid battery and to replace with a moto batt. If anyone has input on either question let me know thanks.

Yes, the dialer closes and it kills my radio for a bit.

Ya, I think it's linked to Tranquility as I had this issue when installing 2.3.8a on a different ROM. I posted this on droidxforums.com but will copy it here since droidforums.net seems more alive =/

My post:

Just installed RC2. Very cool! Working like a champ on the stuff I tested, though not thorough

A few bugs/things I wanted to report since I did not see any known problems with RC1 or RC2 on first couple pages. Please let me know if any of what I mention works for you folks.

When I go to the Dialer, I click the voicemail icon on the left of the green dial button and the dialer closes and the network drops. I believe this to be related to Tranquility as I had this issue when installing few days ago. Even on 2.3.8a.

When going to settings and deselecting Auto-rotate screen, it does not truly disable it, though it removes the check.

Calendar widget does not appear to work. Do I need to download a proper apk? Thanks!
***just read on droidforums.net that you basically have to use another widget. I just installed Smooth Calendar and it works just fine.

ROM has been stable thus far. Keep up the great work, Fab!

For what it's worth I am pretty sure that this issue is related to the removal of the Verizon Visual Voicemail application (VVM.apk). If that app is removed from the system the button on the dialer will not work and cause this to happen.

Well I just upgraded from RC1 to RC2 and I haven't noticed had major issues yet, this is such a solid ROM and I just wanted to thank everyone involved for all the work that they've done on this. Motorola should honestly just flash this ROM before they ship the DX.

However, I have noticed some tiny little things. First of all, from the system settings menu, navigating to "Battery Manager" and tapping the battery icon triggers a force close on Settings, was the battery manager removed maybe? If it's just me, then maybe I'll try formatting data and cache and doing a clean install.

My only other complaint (and its a pretty minor one) is that Motorola seemed to have messed up some of the resource files that were formerly used by the vanilla mail application (which I LOVE btw, I liked the vanilla 2.1 mail app on my Droid 1 so much more than the blur-ified version that came with the Droid X). I've included some screenshots to show what I mean. If it helps at all, the two mail accounts that you see are both Exchange accounts. Also, I noticed this in RC1 as well.

So yeah, that's about all that I've noticed. And it's still too early to tell, but my battery seems to be holding up better thus far.
