[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

Yes, the dialer closes and it kills my radio for a bit.

Ya, I think it's linked to Tranquility as I had this issue when installing 2.3.8a on a different ROM. I posted this on droidxforums.com but will copy it here since droidforums.net seems more alive =/

My post:

Just installed RC2. Very cool! Working like a champ on the stuff I tested, though not thorough

A few bugs/things I wanted to report since I did not see any known problems with RC1 or RC2 on first couple pages. Please let me know if any of what I mention works for you folks.

When I go to the Dialer, I click the voicemail icon on the left of the green dial button and the dialer closes and the network drops. I believe this to be related to Tranquility as I had this issue when installing few days ago. Even on 2.3.8a.

When going to settings and deselecting Auto-rotate screen, it does not truly disable it, though it removes the check.

Calendar widget does not appear to work. Do I need to download a proper apk? Thanks!
***just read on droidforums.net that you basically have to use another widget. I just installed Smooth Calendar and it works just fine.

ROM has been stable thus far. Keep up the great work, Fab!

For what it's worth I am pretty sure that this issue is related to the removal of the Verizon Visual Voicemail application (VVM.apk). If that app is removed from the system the button on the dialer will not work and cause this to happen.

I have VVM installed, and it's not that.

Yeah, don't hit the voicemail button ;)

If you want to get to voicemail quickly, just hold down 1.

Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

@Fab lol

i would think that after you hit the button and crash the phone and your radio
that not hitting the button again would be a obvious thing

well I think your somewhat right and wrong I dont think it has anything to do with the verizon VVM.apk but rather the Blur VVM that is removed
I posted on this before. I have some programing knowledge and experience and what they did in blur was not keep each blur apk a separate code section to be interpreted but rather they put sections or blocks of code in all the blur apks for example the blur phone apk calls up code from the blur VVM apk and most likely other apks as well. programmers do this so you cant chop up their program and make a franken version of what they built. this makes a blurless rom very hard to compile as blur is in every corner of the OTA rom. Fab has done a great job and what bugs have surfaced have managed to be annoying but not all out crashing the system

I don't have the know how or the time but if someone was interested they could track down the the permission setting for that voice-mail button and redirect it to say the Google Voice .apk

Help!

I think I screwed up. I tried updating from RC1 to RC2 without having the steps in front of my eyes....so I Mounted system, then Formatted system, and applied zip and now I'm sitting at the M logo.

Is there an SBF out that will help me get back on track? I was updated to the OTA before loading the ROM.

does anyone have the apk for the mms app that came with the stock droid x. im an apex rom but i liked the bubble look of the stock droid x mms app best.

ps i do not want to use any 3rd party apps

thanks!

I'm going to second the car dock thing. If the app that comes with this ROM can't be customized, is there a way to add the Blur one or the one from Google that is customizable?

I can't believe I did it. I broke down and flashed my first ROM. After doing it, I can't believe I was worried about doing it before. It really was that easy.

Initial impressions are that this ROM is really fast. I am going to add LP+ to it and see what that does as well.

But all I can say is...damn. This is how an X should be.

One question, should I remove the ApeX stock launcher if I am using LP+?

I've installed LatinIME.apk by using the install script. and it says that is has been "installed to system courtsey of Fabolous." How do I get to actually use it now? I can't figure it out.

Also, I love the stock SMS app (faster than the Blur one) but I can't seem to get an icon to show up for "Me." I have a contact titled "Me" with a picture and my number. I've got myself in my phone. Clicking the icon brings up the contact card for my name, that has a picture attached. Any ideas?

i loaded rc1 first and had it working fine. Then I realized that rc2 was out so I installed that today without formatting. Everything seems to be working fine with the exception of carhome. I removed and then isntalled it again using the scripts, but whenever I try to use it it just sends me back to my home screen.

Is there anything that I can do to fix this? i use carhome A LOT.

Yep, I'm an software engineer by trade.

I just installed the Vvm.apk from Motorola and it works fine.

More importantly though, my battery life still stinks. I had the phone disconnected for 10 hours so far today and took exactly 0 calls and didn't even look at the phone for more than 2 minutes to verify the panorama pictures and VM button and I'm at 20%. Basically, it sat and sync'd my gmail all day with the screen off. Hate to say it, but I think I'm going to have to go back to one of the other builds I was using and get my battery life back. If this gets straightened out, I'll check it again.

Has anyone had a issue with incoming calls not showing when you are on a call? I have had no ability to answer a second call, you can hear it beep but no screen notification.
