[ROM] [ROM] ApeX V1.4.1 for Droid X & Droid 2 - Refinement and Ease of Use (2/22/2011)

So I did fabs update and I still have a market update, what should I do with this? Install over his? And what exactly are the GB notifications?

http://fabdroid.com/goodies/Gmail.apk

Updated apk of the new update to restore Gingerbread notification. Uninstall the update first, place apk on /sdcard, then use the toolbox to install Gmail.apk

Not quite sure what this means everything seems to be working I get Gmail notifications if its not broke dont fix it?

If you had downloaded the gmail update via the android market days ago, you will have lost gingerbread notification icons as opposed to the original gmail notification icon. You'll notice the gingerbread one is a bit sleeker and themed similarly to other gingerbread notifications. If you want the gingerbread style notifications for gmail, you must follow fab's instructions.

Yea on the main page with the link to the themes I see pics of the themes without icons but there are words where they should be...I want that look and I have adw and I won't let me remove an icon but I can make a custom one....but not remove one. Any ideas?

Weird Problem

Ok, I mentioned this before, but I still haven't found a solution and I found a new oddity.

If I use the toolbox to remove the blur launcher, my phone turns into a turtle.

I've wiped everything, gone back to stock, then wiped again. I know I could just leave the blur launcher in place, but if I never use it, why leave it there. I've eliminated all other customizations (by not doing them) not even overclocking. Only thing I really haven't done is NOT install all my apps from the market.

The latest thing I noticed though, is that before I remove the blur launcher, I can run apps like alogcat, and use the command line for logcat and they work fine. After removing blur launcher, I get the error that there is no log, or "unable to open log device '/dev/log/main' : no such file or directory". system, radio, and event are there in dev/log, but no main. I was trying to check the log to find out what program if any was slamming unanswered events to blurhome.....

Does anyone know how I can fix this? For now I guess I'll just keep the blur launcher installed.

Oh yeah, re-installing blur launcher doesn't help either, I have to either nandroid restore or install apex 1.4.1 again. I looked at Fab's scripts for the toolbox, and I don't see anything funky going on, just remove the .apk and nothing else...

Honestly why is it a big deal? I have ADW launcher, ADW EX launcher, Launcher Pro Plus, and Blur all installed. I also have a bunch of other stuff installed I don't necessarily use. And my phone is undervolted and running fast with zero lag.

No you can do it. I was just saying I couldn't post a picture of my stats because my phone rebooted and reset the times. I went 26 hours before it died. Medium use with 3g turned off when not using.

Today I've kept 3g on and have heavy use (100% then I fell asleep for 7 hours then was 80%). After 13 total hours I'm at 40%.

FOR THOSE WIPING BATTERY STATS AND GETTING BAD BATTERY LIFE:

Make sure you are doing this:
-Plug your phone in and let it charge to 100%
-Boot into CW Recovery
-Advanced
-Wipe Battery Stats
-Unplug your phone and then click yes
-Reboot
-DON'T PLUG YOUR PHONE IN AT ALL
-Let it die completely
-Keep it turned off and charge it untill it is 100%
-Then you should be good to go. Hopefully that helps with battery life.

I did it last night, I'll post a picture of my battery usage later tonight when I get to/around 15%.

Edit: Nevermind. My phone just rebooted... I was at 19 hours with 40%. I turn 3g off when not using and it was on over night while I slept (7-8 hours).

So should I try this or not? U say nevermind? me o.O

Its just a personal thing. I know I should be able to do it, so it drives me nuts that I can't. I never removed blur launcher before, and I commonly swap between lpp and adw, so they are usually both installed. The part that freaks me out is the fact that loggings stopped and the phone gets crazy slow.

If I were you I'd send Fab a PM and ask him or 'tweet' to him on twitter. Yes I know twitter is dumb. But I got one because it's the easiest way to get a hold of Fab and a great way to follow stuff in the Droid world.

how would i go about installing this from liberty 1.5? do i need to revert back to the stock .340 (2.2.1) rom and re-root? or can i just simply wipe the data/cache partition and go about my business in clockwork recovery?

btw this has HDMI support yes?

This is weird, didn't do anything this time around but install an adw theme, and I've got the massive slowdown and broken logs again. didn't touch blur launcher this time.

To your first question I believe I read some where that you cant swap stuff between these two roms it will screw them up but just a camera might be ok Im not sure someone will know. To your second question I dont think either one does

You know what, disregard everything I've said lately. I must have a rogue app. My problem keeps showing up and dissapearing randomly.

I have a noon question is this rom already overclocked or do I need to run set cpu and auto detect my settings . I love this rom and just came over from a htc eris and all the rims were over clocked already. This is a bad a*s phone and I don't wanna mess it up. Great rom fab!

Yes, HDMI support. Just wipe data and cache and then install ApeX and you should be golden! Let us know if you have any issues.

Not sure what to tell you. Maybe you should SBF or Maderstock, or go to a stock backup and try to Flash again...

That would definitely do it. I believe there is an app, I think it is called Watchdog that can find bad apps, not sure if it is just for battery use or not. Anyhow. Should help. Good luck.

Welcome, I too came from the Eris. You picked a great ROM, the only one I've been 100% happy with. As far as overclocking, I highly suggest Droid Overclock in the market. It's worth the price, because it is more specific to these phones because you can pick the clock speed and the voltage. I personally, and many others do this too, run stock speed, but undervolt. I'd go get the app and then if you have any questions to what exactly I have mine set up as I can answer that. (You don't really NEED to overclock. The processor in the X is slightly better than the one that was in the Eris. Believe it or not  :rofl3:)
