[ROM] ApeX V2.0.0 Release Candidate (RC2) (6/11/2011)

Saw a couple market posts and thought i would share my issue. I always swap my vending.apk and several other system apks for the current transparent modded market from xda and never had any issues except now on apex 2.0.

So i pulled the 2 markets apart and found their structure to be a little different. My transparent vending.apk (as well as liberty.7 stock market) for example has a "drawable-hdpi" folder as expected but the stock market in apex has instead a "drawable-hdpi-v4" completely lacking the "drawable-hdpi" folder (which is the common folder on android packages to edit images for those who dont know)

Needless to say my ninjamorph experiment didnt work and I was unable to get my transparent market running and hopped back to liberty to keep my theme intact

Any thoughts on how to get this running?

drawable-hdpi-v4 is what happens to apks when they are decompiled with apkmanager in Linux.

That's NOT the case at all with the stock Vending.apk that comes with Apex.

Did you install a theme?

no themes. My usual process is format sys/data/cache, install rom, google sync/install all my /data/ apps.

after a reboot i swap out system apps with root explorer and set permissions. When I swapped vending apk and got the FC's I took a look at em in root explorer and saw the different folders

perhaps i was looking at the wrong one and my transparent vending apk is the one with drawable-hdpi-v4?

any idea on how I could make it work?

drawable-hdpi-v4 = drawable-hdpi

You can extract the images and replace them in my Vending.apk

This might require some theming knowledge though. Or you could try signing the transparent market with apkmanager, since all of Apex is signed.

You may also need to clear market cache after you replace one with another.

Givin it a shot, was just booting to recovery to try again

hmm, quadrant and drocap seem to be missing from market. (Stock) This probably has something to do with google's fragmentation "fix" though

So far, the core system is running very smoothly.

However, I'm trying to get the Dock.apk to work. I have everything else running just fine: Blur Alarm, Blur Camera and Blur Car Dock. I added "dock.apk" and "dockservice.apk" and it shows up on my notification, just doesn't actually start up. Anyone got this to work?

Also, lockscreen w/ music controls would be lovely...

Bigxie,

I installed over deodexed 596. Wiped data, cache, and dalvik first. Booted fine installed Droid2 bootsraper and booted in to recovery to do a restore of data only.

Ended up with a boot loop after restoring. Any ideas?

This what happens when laziness kicks in, do everything from scratch if you can. This believe it or not eliminates many problems.
the problem you have is resorting data from the .596 build to the newly flashed Apex 2.0 right? Your restoring data from the stock BLUR rom, to Apex which is more a ASOP Rom Which is Blurless. I could be wrong...but like I said you should do everything from scratch when flashing a new rom, no shortcuts.

That's probably true but I skip the Google sync in the beginning.. then restore all my user apps with titanium.. then sync with Google. Has worked flawslessly for all Rome with me

Restoring apps isn't a big deal, but the route he took is sketchy, restoring data from the .596 build to Apex 2.0,
...the steps you normally would take to set up your google and other email accounts isn't the same way the instructions for Apex tells you to do it...
So the stuff he restored didn't play nice with the Apex rom booted
...this probably is the same for any other data he restored, data that isn't compatible with the Apex Rom. like Blur apps that rely on another.
