[ROM] Zero Blur! Zero Lag! rubiX Focused 1.0

Ok so i installed ingognito red theme but i think i did it wrong...... i went into recovery and installed the zip file without doing any cache clearing or whatever... and now my phone is sooooo slow!!! ridiculously slow! do i need to go back to stock rubix all over again? or can i just take this theme off! I tried installing black bar over it but it didnt work.... ingocnito is still on

You can just reflash rubix 1.0 without wipeing data/cache. I just did this too.

^^^ If something did go wrong, then yea, easy fix! :)

But from the sounds of it, you installed correctly.. if you DO want to give incognito a shot.. *shrug*.. give it a bit.. and while waiting, ask on the incognito thread about the issue! :)

Great thanks! what is the best way to install a theme, do i need to mount system? And has anyone had issues with the fission theme?

Installing a theme should be done using whatever installation instructions the dev suggests. Which theme? Link?

I wanted to install the them on this forum.... the link is here

Also sorry if this has been discussed, but where is the voice search on the google search widget? is it gone? and is there a patch for music icons on the lockscreen?

That is a Focused theme that (maybe) also works with Fission... if I understand correctly. I believe the install instructions for Black-Juice are on the first post of the thread you linked.

For search, install both google search, and voice search from market, you may need to remove and re-add the widget after to get the button. This will also fix the short and long presses of the search button for you.

The music icons on lockscreen.. the only way to get this to work, is with the BLUR music app... Blur isn't supported on Focused, but there is an UNOFFICIAL patch available (thanks to Fission team)... more info here:

Performed a usb wipe and all is well. I am loving this rom, really fast and with JRummy's overclock all is right with the world. Great job Drod

Dumb Question

When gingerbread is released, how will that impact droid x users who have rooted. I'm running rubix 1.0 so I would imagine just downloading the available update when it comes out is not a good idea. Does anyone know what rooted users typically do when new firmware updates are released? I'm a newbie to the world of rooting and roms.

It will wipe what you have, you will loose root and any other modification you've made.

Also, because your running a modified ROM you would have to go back to stock in order to update (officially) anyways.

But will the phone still be operational or does it become bricked?

It'll be fine. Like I said you would have to revert back to stock in order to do the official update anyways....or wait until gingerbread is rooted and a modified ROM is released.

Either way, unless you majorly screw up....you have nothing to worry about.

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet in this thread or even at droidforums, but drod mentioned the following commands at XDA which really have helped with both my performance and battery life on Rubix. You only need to run the commands one time:

$ su
# mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
# chmod 755 /system/etc/init.d/01cpuod
# chmod 755 /system/etc/init.d/02vm
# busybox run-parts /system/etc/init.d
