[ROM] Zero Blur! Zero Lag! rubiX Focused 1.0

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet in this thread or even at droidforums, but drod mentioned the following commands at XDA which really have helped with both my performance and battery life on Rubix. You only need to run the commands one time:

$ su
# mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
# chmod 755 /system/etc/init.d/01cpuod
# chmod 755 /system/etc/init.d/02vm
# busybox run-parts /system/etc/init.d

I also want to know what this does. Running commands as root on my phone is not something I do lightly.

Its not a script, its changing permissions for 2 files, all though I have no idea what they are.

they're tweaks that were meant to run at boot, but I can't get the permissions correct. they're optional for you now. if you'd like to see what they do, open up the files :) one of them has a typo in it anyways, so it has an adverse affect (not negative or positive, just not what i wanted, it reads 4200 instead of 42000)

Fixed ;-). I know what the chmod permissions do. I guess mucking about on my system partition is not something I do lightly.

So drod, are you going to release a patch to fix those files? I feel like I can trust you more than others (no offense to luv2increase...).

I want to make these tweaks but would like some help as i have never done this before. Do I open up terminal emulator and then type the above in as written? Is that it? Do I have to save it in any way?
Thanks for the help.

Well what was posted was a direct quote from what I put on xda.

In the next release, they will be fully functional. The problem is the permissions being set on the initial install. Once they're set you can reboot and they'll run fine, like they were supposed to. A patch was my original plan, but I figured i'd save it for the next release so I can actually tell you guys what the tweaks are in the change log.

Great thanks! what is the best way to install a theme, do i need to mount system? And has anyone had issues with the fission theme?

Installing a theme should be done using whatever installation instructions the dev suggests. Which theme? Link?

I wanted to install the them on this forum.... the link is here
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-x-roms/91765-theme-rubix-focused-fission-maybe.html

Also sorry if this has been discussed, but where is the voice search on the google search widget? is it gone? and is there a patch for music icons on the lockscreen?

download the theme you want from my post, load into bootstrap, install from sdcard, choose zip, pick the zip file, install, reboot. Done dancedroid

Drod, do you know if with the next release, users of corporate sync e-mail will be able to move emails to folders?

Curious is there anyway to change the color of when ur dialing in the dialer or calling out. I like how it starts black but the green is kinda dislike. No biggie just asking

Is anybody else missing their stock clipboard? Whenever I go to copy and paste something, I can only paste, I can't go to "paste from clipboard". Anybody else noticing this?

When gingerbread is released, how will that impact droid x users who have rooted. I'm running rubix 1.0 so I would imagine just downloading the available update when it comes out is not a good idea. Does anyone know what rooted users typically do when new firmware updates are released? I'm a newbie to the world of rooting and roms.

Just like the 2.2 when it came out... you'll need to .sbf back to stock to get it. As long as you can .sbf back to stock (makes your phone just like it was when it came out of the box).. then updates will be available to you IF YOU WANT THEM... you don't have to load updates if you don't want to... *shrug*

I commented on that and agree. See post 41. This rom is a step back in that regard.
