rubiX Focused 1.9.5

Is anyone able to change their boot animation? I tried install them from zips (both unmounted and mounted systems) and manually replacing bootanimation.zip in /system/media but the default rubiX one always shows up.

It seems to be rewriting the boot animation back every time when I use Root Explorer. I would rename the old bootanimation.zip, paste in the new bootanimation.zip and it wouldn't work so I tried to delete the renamed bootanimation.zip but it would come back instantly. The only way it wouldn't be brought back was if I mounted the system R/O right after deleting the renamed file.

Did mine in root explorer as well

Bleh, totally forgot he mentioned he moved it.
Patch updated (Hope the orig. author doesn't mind my hosting it on my site...):
http://www.sephtin.com/rubiX/DXC_RubiX_bootMod(1.9.5).zip

:)

Although WJD designed the original boot animation, I'm the one who corrected it. Don't mind you hosting it or updating the location, thanks.

I KNEW it was someone I had talked to quite a bit.. bleh.. but for the life of me couldn't remember who! O.o (too lazy to search.. :(

Thanks. I'll make certain to give credit where it is due!

Edit: You should update your post in the other thread.. feel free to use my re-packaged .zip, or whatever you'd like..
If you do, I'll just remember to refer anyone who wants that change to that thread.. :)

Okay so Im not sure I have saw this posted but its a dealbreaker of an issue for me and could use some help. When I call into a 1-888, 800, 866 or any automated system that requires me to enter my phone number the touchpad does not register the key presses and fails every time. This happens on Focused and FISSION but does not happen on STOCK or Apex? Anyone got any thoughts?

Weird, Verizon Wireless was kind enough to let me use their 1800# for testing.
I called in, I punched in my phone number, I put in my account password thingy, I checked my minutes no problem.
...

Which version of the ROM are you using (plain or themed)? Any other themes applied?

Hello everyone I installed Rubix 1.9.5 per the instructions on the first post and I'm getting a boot loop. Can anyone help me please to get this back in working order. Ive already bricked my phone and was lucky enough to have verizon replace it. i dont want to do it again. thanks in advance.

I believe this was answered, but first things to try:

--Pull battery
--Hold SEARCH button down while booting.. If you're lucky, and it goes into clockwork recovery menu, then wipe cache, then data, and then reload the ROM.

If it doesn't go into recovery, but instead boot loops:
--Pull battery (again)
--Hold HOME button down while booting. You can let go of HOME button when you see the M logo.
--It should boot to Android Recovery (lil droid with ! in a triangle). When you see that screen, press the search button to get to the Android Recovery Menu.
--From the menu, wipe cache and data, then reboot.
--Reboot, it should go into Focused.

Now, you'll be OK, but you'll be missing the apps that are listed as being installed to /data in drod's first post of this thread, and your boot animation will be incorrect. To correct.. I'd let all of your apps be restored via market (unless you are restoring them via other method anyway).. and then go back and load the ROM again (this time, wipe cache and data, and then load the ROM..
When you reboot, you'll be all set. :)

Septh, why do you have to be like that? j/k :)
I made the framework-res.apk file and a clockwork backup, but I still don't have the gonads to do it.
If I mess up the framework, I won't even get a chance to boot in clockwork to restore the last backup?
...that blows

Note, that if you mess up the framework, you will probably boot loop. When playing with framework, be prepared to .sbf!

Maybe you'll be lucky... I've not been so lucky, when I did all of my testing for my bar-mod, I .sbf'd 4 or 5 times...
(Usually because I accidentally included the framework-res folder in my zip when I re-zipped the whole thing.. O.o

Seph, for the .340 patches, does an ota update do anything or should I use tbh patches from the link above.

Here is what I did, went from original to .340 ota update to runic 1.9.0 to your patch for. 340 and then rubix 1.9.5 yesterday.

Am I good? I just don't want to have to redo everything

I'll try to explain, just hope I don't cause more confusion than clear up... ;)

The steps you've explained that you've done:
--Updated to OTA 2.3.340 (This updated kernel/bootloader/baseband/and SYSTEM to 2.3.340.
--updated to rubiX 1.9.0 (This removed 2.3.340 system, and installed Focused1.9.0 system, which was designed to run on 2.3.320 kernel, because 2.3.340 wasn't out yet).
--Installed my 1.9.0 patch for 2.3.340 (this udpated SYSTEM from 2.3.320 to 2.3.340)
--You installed Focused 1.9.5, which again completely removed SYSTEM, and installed the 1.9.5 system.

So.. your bootloader/baseband/kernel, should still correctly be on 2.3.340, and your SYSTEM should be on Focused 1.9.5. Sounds ok to me.

Let me know if that doesn't clear things up?

Regarding the several people asking about Facebook contacts syncing. First off, make sure you have contacts set to sync within Facebook settings... I know that's kinda a given, but just in case. Next, if you go to your friends list and just scroll through it from top to bottom, letting each picture show up, those pictures will sync with your contacts list.

This has probably been asked before so I apologize, now that rubix uses gummyjar, 3g hotspot works (suggesting its no longer 100% blur free). Does this mean fm radio and hdmi work now too?

It's never been 100% blur free. 3G HotSpot isn't necessarily a "blur" app, its just an app that moto included wrongly in their framework to require blur. No hdmi and FM radio do not work yet

I tried the 3g hotspot and it seemed to work however im.confused as to why there are instructions in the rubix folder that direct a specific method for using it. What's the difference?

those instructions are for WIRED tether (as they say instructionsforwiredtether.txt ;) )

When you connect your phone to pc and open up the usb menu, you'll see "Phone as Modem" option. That's wired tethering.
