Second Android Update 2.2 Froyo (FRG22 Rolling) Out Now

Hey so sorry if this was already answered, i saw people ask variations of the question with no real answer, i manually installed 2.2, and already have flash downloaded, will this still get pushed to me? Even though i have flash i still want the security updates that are suppose to come with it.

Just wondering because when i id the manual update i never got the official OTA pushed to me. (dont know if they have a way to check what OS you are running and then dont push it to you if you already have it?)

Thanks in advance
Glad I read the whole thread. I have the same question. I did a manual update to 2.2, FRG01B and I manually installed Flash. What happens with the new OTA update? Will my set up get screwed up?

No you should still get it.

And as for the updates yesterday, seems it was few and far between. When they said the update will begin today, that could mean 11:59pm tonight..
Thank you.

Will you get this if manually installed?

Are you talking about the last update? If so, the answer is yes.

VZW isnt sending flash. They are sending an upgrade to the latest version of froyo (A Patch) that will enable you to download flash from the android market.

Okay let me try this again. Will I get the update to froyo if I manually install flash 10.1? Also if I install flash will I be able to install future updates to flash from the market?
Let me try this again.

A manual update will not prevent any future update/upgrade/bug/bugfix/hairloss you may experience unless you have root/Rogaine. The worst you'll have to do is manually uninstall Flash/apply the Rogaine.

Flash has nothing to do with updates to the OS in your phone. If this isn't what you're asking, please rephrase so I know what you are asking.

Forget about the OS question. I understand that the update is so that I can download the Flash Player from the android market.

Even though you just explained it I will try and brake down my question. Flash is an app. Apps are downloaded from the Android market. Sometimes apps are updated and they post them in the android market. Now if Adobe happens to update the Flash player will I be able to update it from the Android market even though I installed Flash manually. I can’t find a clearer way to explain my question.

Ok I am not sure. What I personally am going to do is, when the update comes I will goto the market and search for flash and see if it is asking me to upgrade. If it doesn't, me being me, I will probably uninstall the self installed flash I have now and download it from the market just to be sure.

Just a thought...

Anybody worried about the Cease and Desist letter affecting the release of root mods or the update.zip for the D1, I don't think should have to worry.

Moto specifically licenses and develops Motoblur and therefore have control over it's release and exposure. Since the Droid X runs Motoblur, and the released update.zip included that, they would then have the right to request removal of the file from hosting sites.

Since D1 is stock, aside from driver support I guess, I don't think they would be the ones to to try to push the C&D. And I think Google is just fine with it. :)

My two cents.

update.zip should not be affected. Droid can always be rooted with universal androot, right?

As far as I know it will. Google hasn't been complaining, and with the recent legalization of rooting or Jailbreaking I don't think it's going anywhere for a while.

Patience of a saint. I wish I had enough fingers on my typing hands to count the number of times furbearingmammal has repeated the answer to these questions.

P3Droid
FRG22D, OTA hit me so get it since its rooted, deodexed, busyboxed...Droid - FRG22D, rooted, deodexed, busyboxed

So... here's a stupid question from a noob droid user...

If I attempt to install this .zip file just as I've installed previous forced "OTA" updates, will this file automatically root the D1 for me, or do I need to be rooted already in order to use this file...

Stock "non-rooted" D1 running latest FRG01B. (no root experience)

Thanks,
Josh
