[Updated] Verizon To Officially Reveal Tiered Data Plans July 7th; Plans Leaked Below

I know this is a shocking idea, but can everyone please stop getting ready to jump off buildings until full details are revealed and all of this information is confirmed?

I am due for an upgrade. I have a basic phone with no data plan. Right now there is no difference between 3G and 4G pricing for unlimited data. If I get the iphone now I will be on 3G, unlimited. Do you think Verizon will pull the old scam 2 years from now saying oh since you want 4G you have to pay $10 for unlimited data or whatever price it might be?

Looking at my last month's usage, I would have to pay approximately $60/mo more with this tiered plan than I currently do.

If this is still the case in January 2012 when my contract is up, I will not hesitate to switch phone companies (if I want a new phone...)

I realize as long as I hold onto my Droid and don't ever sign anything else, then I'll keep my current pricing which is competitive (but not the cheapest) plan out there.

When my phone breaks, Verizon will lose a 10+ year customer because I can see paying a little bit more for my service out of shear laziness on my part to change, but not DOUBLE if these are anywhere close to the numbers/tiered pricing they end up with.

I know for a fact people that have a 3G or 4G plan WILL be grandfathered in. But When I go for a 4G phone in late 2012 I'll be bending over and paying out my a**! If they atleast offered 5GB for $30. I use roughly 2GB in a month just streaming internet radio and some live tv. 5GB is plenty for most.

i am typing this message on my droid as i fall 90 stories to my demise...wish i would have seen this earlier.....

Wow that's painfull!! My wife and I looked at our average for the year and we have never gone over 4gb, but then again never gone under 2gb. So now I'm going to have to pay almost double for my data... sheeesh!

If you two are on a family plan you'd get the 5 GB for $50, you'll actually pay less than what you're paying now.

Has this actually been confirmed? I know that they brought up the fact of tiered data for family plans, but i don't think that's what they quoted so far.

"Than you for calling Verizon Wireless. Please note your hold time may be long due to higher than usual call volumes". HA!

As more and more people use tv on their phones and use their phones for everything their usage goes up. As their usage goes past 2GB, they are already paying more for their service then they did before. Who wins then... verizon does.

That's true, but unfortunately this is going to be a necessary evil. Do you remember all of the complaints about constant dropped calls and data on AT&T? That was due to a system incapable of supporting the amount traveling across the system. If left unchecked, the exact same thing would happen on Verizon. Under 3G it wasn't as much of a fear, especially since talk and data couldn't occur at the same time. That's changing with 4G. It sucks, but if something like this doesn't happen, get ready to look for crashing systems and dropped calls. That's the reality of the situation.

BS...verizon just keeps screwing us over...but then again its mainly because of the "unauthorized tethering"...some ppl over used it for online gaming and other crap

There may be some aspect due to unauthorized tethering, but I think this is a precursor to what the 4G speeds will be capable of. We've already seen people admit on here about using a tethered phone rather than a hardline at their house. Imagine how many more people would be doing that with the high speed of the 4G. It WOULD become a problem. Does everyone really think this data is unlimited as far as systemwide capacity? People, use some logic. There is only so much the system and towers can transfer without shutting down. That is a straight up fact.

Why is it so many are unwilling to accept this reality?

They already make 100's off of BS stuff, you can't sit there and really think that it costs a cell company 20 bucks for text messages right? But i guess that was a necessary evil too? I guess the system crashed down around them when too many people text 2000000 texts a day. If they don't have the system to support the crap they are trying to sell, then don't try to sell it. Oh look we love android and ios, but don't use it for more then 10 minutes at a time or we will have to charge you a constant rate fee for being connected that long at any given time.

I understand but then why" falsely advertise" UNLIMITED??...but quick question, my contract is about over and was wondering if I don't renew it and keep on with out one, but buy a phone at retailm will I still have unlimited data?
