Verizon Trollin' aka Waiting on the Nexus

I know this is fun for you guys, but it's really just preventing people who are looking for real help from these chat services. They don't know anything, they're some company overseas who have no clue when the Nexus will come out, we will know well before they or their computer's do.

Mostly true. Their computers will know the second a pre order date or launch date is made official. By official I mean public.

Oh come on, it's not like we're clogging up 911 lines with prank calls.

Most fun I've had all day haha

You are now chatting with 'Logan W'
You: hi logan
Logan W: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
Logan W: What can I do for you today?
You: well you could hit the trifecta if your answers are awesome ;)
You: i am on my 3rd Droid 2 Global and its almost been thrown through walls out windows and into large bodies of water in the last few weeks
Logan W: Haha.
Logan W: I'm sorry to hear that.
You: i have been a 5+ year loyal Verizon customer and I pay about as much as one person with one phone possibly can
Logan W: Okay.
You: I have been beyond disappointed with the phone selection, offers, and options available in the past year so i have let me contract expire and have not upgraded due to what i consider a huuuuuge gaff in verizons ability to provide new technology and updates for said devices in a timely manner.
You: so to say that i am disgruntled would be a major understatement
Logan W: Okay.
You: i just recieved an offer for a free month of service (i pay just shy of $140 a month) and yet I have been informed that the actual $ amt creditied would by $90... which to me is kind of a punch in the gut... dont offer me a full free month if it only means i can make and recieve calls for free haha
You: what I am trying to do is take everything that verizon is throwing at me, $45 phone trade in credit, *free month, upgrade credit of $50 and the 2 year contract price and mash it all together.
Logan W: That is covering your plan and features but not the taxes and surcharges.
You: taxes and surcharges on my plan are not $50, only your colling plan is free from what i understand, data and any other extrass would still need to be paid for
You: *calling
You: sorry.... new keyboard haha
Logan W: No problem.
You: and I want a NEW phone, I dont want a moto device based on my previous experience of having them crap the bed so to speak... i want something clean easy dual core simple and fast. what are my options currently?
Logan W: I would go with the iPhone 4S or the HTC Rezound.
You: i have no issue signign a 2 year contract, taking some $ out of my pocket for a new phone, and falling back into the fold as a smiling verizon customer if some simple conditions are met, if not... i have no issue porting my verizon # to google for $20 and getting an unlimited plan with another carrier as AT&T just put up 3 new towers where i live in NH and will have their 4g service here in 4 months (you will as well as you are going to be renting tower space from them or at least thats how i read it in the paper)
You: i dont have a wallet chain or comical glasses so an iphone isnt an option for me haha
You: a rezound has HTC sense right? i really hate all that crap moto HTC and other manufactures put onto a phone.... seems to cause all sorts of problems
You: is that a dual core with a gig of ram?
You: this needs to last me another 2 years...
Logan W: It does have a GB of Ram yes.
Logan W: Hi, I'm just checking in, how is everything going?
You: dual core at least 1.2 GHZ?
Logan W: Dual core 1.5 actually.
You: outstanding do you know what processor it has?
Logan W: Qualcomm
You: if not thats cool, i have been trying to research all this and make an educated choice here but there is so much info out there and not all of it is reliable, thats why i decided to question the source lol
You: i have also heard about the new Nexus, what are your thoughts?
Logan W: The Rezound is way better.
You: is that because i can purchase that today? i have waited over a YEAR for a new phone so another week or a month or whenever y'all decide to release it (samsungs site said Verizon has had it since Nov 17th - or at least thats what i read)... why would you go with the Rezound over the Nexus?
You: i have an open mind
Logan W: I love Samsung myself and am a avid user of their products and very rarely stray from that.
Logan W: The thing is, spec wise, the Rezound is just a better phone.
Logan W: I don't like how the Nexus is going to have such a big screen. It's going to feel like holding a tablet to your face haha.
You: but doing that unlocks it right? haha
You: and i totally agree that i have really no need for a screen bigger than 4 inches, i will NEVER wear a phone clip on my belt and if it has an issue being in my pocket then it wont work for me
Logan W: Exactly.
Logan W: Hi, I'm just checking in, how is everything going?
You: is there even any reliable info on when the Nexus gets released? this is also poor customer service i feel... if someone is going to make such a long commitement to get a credit for a piece of technology that is what i would consider a pretty big purchase, i mean i use my phone legit at least every 5-10 minutes for something, most of my career is done through it... how can there be no info on whats comming out... we know when movies are coming out 6 months before they do right?
You: i am intrigued by your comments about the rezound as honestly it wasnt even a phone i was considering...
You: i had almost resigned myself with just saying screw it and grabbing a Razor
You: but will i be able to take all those credits and discounts and use them all at the same time is my major concern after picking a phone
Logan W: I am sorry but there is no information on the Galaxy phone.
Logan W: You can except the trade in credit as you don't get that until you send us the phone.
You: logan you do realize that thats kind of a ridiculous thing for you to HAVE to say right?
You: that you have no info about a phone that your company has in its hands and has been advertising about, im not mad at you just a point of fact.
Logan W: I don't even have any information on it. It's not like I'm just telling you that as part of my job I really don't have any information on it.
You: i know, thats gotta be a tough part of your job
Logan W: Sometimes but not really because no one else has any information either so it's not like I'm being left out.
You: so you are saying that i can use the free month, not for a free month but towards a phone purchase? and the $50 upgrade credit, and the new 2 year contract price all at the same time? would i have to do that online? in a store? a phone call?
Logan W: No you cannot use that towards a phone purchase. You can only use the two year discount and the $50 credit.
You: how does that make sense? lol
You: its the same money
Logan W: I would recommend contacting customer service at 1-800-922-0204 as they will have the tools to better assist you. I am sorry if there is any inconvenience.
You: haha no worries, thank you for your time Logan i will look into the Rezound a lil more closely
Logan W: It has been my pleasure to chat with you today! Please feel free to re-open the chat session if you need further assistance . Thank you and have a great day!

Lol, i bet the company would be fine with many people using their services. even if its asking whether the nexus will be out soon. And these really do help, its statistics. if 10 people call and request info on a nexus then they know at least 1000 people are wondering. it shows where a problem is, so if 1000 people suddenly call in with a sudden problem, they know thats a pretty widespread problem. i know my numbers are off, i dout a person does represent 100 people but it explained what i wanted to well. This i'm sure helps determine many things. So as pointless as us trying to get information is, its forwarded to a department in VZ. Which that department goes, wow we are getting a lot of people wondering about the nexus. they must be getting it from everywhere now.

I understand and it was funny the first time, it's just not necessary anymore since it's not going to give us any information anyways.

I look at it this way. The more and more people call and chat to complain/ask about the Nexus, the more employees start talking. They start talking among themselves, and to their supervisors. "All I get is questions about this Nexus phone all day". I'm sure Verizon logs the types of call/complaints they get into categories. And the Nexus category is starting to grow, as seen by what some reps say. If it's not clear to Verizon yet, it will be. People are talking. And people want this phone.

I see nothing wrong with making a daily inquiry.

Tried a different approach on this one. Wanted to see if I could back-door into the subject:

Please hold for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience. You are now chatting with 'Terri'

Terri: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?

Trusstopher: I was thinking about upgrading but haven't quite decided on a device yet.

Terri: I would be happy to help you with phones.
Terri: Are you wanting a smart phone or a basic phone?

Trusstopher: Definitely a smart-phone and definitely something running Android.

Terri : Great@
Terri: Do you want all touch screen or one with a keyboard as well?

Trusstopher: Well, I was considering maybe having a key-board, but I want it to be 4G LTE as well... and I looked at the Stratosphere in the store.. wasn't a fan of how it felt in my hands.
Terri: What would be the main use of the phone for you online

Trusstopher: Pretty much a general all purpose device.
Trusstopher: I am definitely thinking I want a "top-tier" device, though.

Terri: How important is the camera to you?
Terri: Would you like to be able to access your home pc from anywhere?

Trusstopher: Megapixels don't mean very much, but I'd prefer close to zero-shutter lag and a high quality sensor.
Trusstopher: Remote access to my PC is very low on the priority list.

Terri: Then I think you may like the Razr. It has 1080 HDP video. It has a great battery life as well with smart settings.

Trusstopher: Interesting... interesting... Razr, huh? But that doesn't have a keyboard, does it?

Terri: No the only one with a keyboard that is 4G is the Stratosphere. However the Razr is very easy to text on.

Trusstopher: I heard someone mention the other day that the Droid 4 was basically going to a new version of the Razr... will that have a keyboard on it?
Terri : We have not gotten any information on the Droid 4.

Trusstopher: Oh, I apologize... I thought I had heard that it was coming out next week so I figured you guys would have gotten the info about it already.

Terri: That is ok.
Terri : We get that all the time about all kinds of phones.

Trusstopher: I'm sure you get a lot of questions about the Galaxy Nexus as well, don't you?

Terri : Yes .
Terri: Hi , I'm just checking in, how is everything going?

Trusstopher: I probably have as many questions about the Nexus as you have been asked... I think it is the primary reason I'm having such a hard time deciding on my upgrade. It is my white whale... the one device I truly want but just can't get my hands on or even a snippet of info on.

Terri : I can send you a link about it.

Trusstopher: Oh? Some inside information? :-)

Terri : Click here.

Trusstopher: I actually hadn't seen that page yet. Thank you!!

Terri : You are welcome.
Terri : Are there any other issues I can assist you with today?

Trusstopher: Looks like it is missing the real meat and potatoes though... A time frame :-(

Terri: I know but at least you have the specs.

Trusstopher: This is true... even more Nexusy Goodness to dream about. So I guess that means y'all haven't been given any time frames either?

Terri: Sorry.

Trusstopher: It's no problem!! But I do really appreciate your help!!

Terri: Do you have any other questions for me at this time>

Trusstopher: Not right now... going to see if I can't wait out my dieing Droid 1 for the Sexy Nexy
Trusstopher: Have a wonderful day, Terri!

Terri: Hi, I'm just checking in, how is everything going?

I think she clicked the wrong automated response there at the end haha.

I seriously doubt this company is going to relay information like this to Verizon. Most of the chats you guys have done look like nonsense, they probably write them off as soon as you start acting like a misinformed customer. Now if you actually went straight to the point and said, hey we're interested in the Nexus, then they may start relaying information, but these "fake requests" aren't going to get us anywhere.

with how much they like to $crew around with not releasing info, i have NO issue wasting as much time as physically possible until they smarten up and change their procedures.

I think that logging in at chatting about my old OMNIA would even be deserved.... why? because i pay almost $150 a month, im out of contract, stuck with a POS because i dont know if its worth the hassle of them sending me a 5th replacement (not new) phone and setting that all up or waiting for the phone im willing to HAND OVER $$ for right now for and dont know when i can get it... turn about is fair play, i will prolly waste an hour or so of someone's time on the phone today as well just to make a point...

There is only 1 reason i am still with Big Red... LTE and grandfathered data. LTE isnt even at my house yet... so that reasoning is seriously waning.

Nice Truss. I believe she did click the wrong link. I hadn't seen that official announcement page before. The Verizon introduces... page.

I like to think that some of these light conversations help break up their day. Maybe add a little comedy in the routine. Plus repeatedly asking about it is what provokes Verizon into a Tweet like they made today about the interest they're seeing in the Nexus. Don't think it can't make an impact!

I think you should unsubscribe to the thread. It just isn't for you :)

Thats wrong. They work for verizon ,they hire them out. It would make no sense not to collect data from that kinda inquiry. I dont think you have a lot of expierence around how some of the bigger companies operate. they might ignore many people, but they definitely know what people are asking for on their help desks.

+1. But the morality police on the boards so it's wrong and mean to do so ;)
