Downgrade to 902 - No app or data loss

Well now i am a bit confused, with the risk of embarrassing my self for asking questions already answered, i'll have to re-read the thread. Have a good night.

Won't be necessary once I do the update to hide it for most people. :) And yes, you only get update options once you add the support files for that update. :) Dynamic rocks. I know everyone says they have no desire to go back, but, what they need to understand is that updates ONLY install on 905. Not being able to go back to 905 presents a problem. So what we do is build a new boot.img for the new update you wanna move to, and then flash system, preinstall, and webtop from 905 along with that boot.img. This allows the update to install. So you can go forward IF you have a boot.img for the update you wanna go to. And so far you can go back to 235, as well.

I don't know how many times we have already defended this point and how many times it will have to be re defended in the future. If some of the most advanced users are telling you it isn't the smartest thing to do then you probably shouldn't do it. Check your ego then your knowledge and then check your ego again.

For this last user... You were on. 904 and said something about being taken off the ota path... There is a slim possibility that this may permanently take you off the ota path. I spend day in and day out running two threads that have all things ics with over 100k views and a couple hundred pages of posts and I haven't made the move. 232 is great, appreciate it and next thing you know you'll be fxz to 905 to get the official ics ota while everyone running 235 & 238 may or not be... Don't do anything you'll regret because you can only blame yourself now

This is why I dont have links to 235 & 238 on my threads Samuri

Understood. I try my best to educate people on the actual risks. All too often I get the standard "so? I don't like gb anyway and never want to go back" nonsense. Very shortsighted when it comes to the ota. Chances are I can get them to it. I've never once gave anyone a guarantee. Could be that we'll be stuck until we can get an fxz... Some 6 to 8 weeks after the ota minimum. That is the risk they take playing this game.

For the record I respect the warnings you guys provide. You dev the stuff.. you would know better than I would. No I don't want to go back to GB. But at the same time, I don't want to prevent my self from experiencing anything further/better than what i have now. Generally I am impatient, but if it means that i might not have a way back to remedy something as a result of moving forward unofficially... I will wait. As an IT Admin... I would recommend the same for others. Cheers.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It isn't just about going back to GB... Trust me once we all flashed. 2231 or. 2233 no one wanted anything to do with GB. It's about making the intelligent decision that allows you to get back to the ota path... Which happens to be GB. I have a lot of faith in Samuri but trust me if something important happens in his life, god forbid something tragic, the last thing he'll be thinking about is getting you on the ota update.

This has happened more times than I can count so don't just assume that Samuri will fix everything for you because you are too impatient or simply too arrogant to realize this great guy won't put your needs ahead of his own... when push comes to shove you'll soon find out that real life takes precedence over everything else, which it should.

I hope I am just reading this differently than you meant it to be or that you are speaking generally. If not, you have me all wrong Sir.

You must be... Couldn't have said it better myself means just that you said it perfectly and that i agree with what you said fully. There was no sarcasm in my last post.

Edit:
What i added was to the general public not towards you my friend

Samuri got some good news

Good news everyone it looks like sonofskywalker3 has made a SS flashable motoblur rom... He debloated the hell out of it to 270mb unzipped leaving 32mb free in the partition... Can we say Gamechanger

For the record, just so people understand fully, this is why I made the latest version so self sufficient. It doesn't require my intervention to get to a new build. Nonetheless the point is taken.

I pm'd skywalker my address. I am hoping to be a tester for this rom. It sounds promising to say the least.

I'm glad you got it mostly where you want to be. As for text messages I BELIEVE that's part of the system data so you have to be REALLY careful and find out EXACTLY which one to restore. If you restore anything other than just that it could seriously mess things up.

Do you think I could now install SS and restore my old 905 nandroid to the safe side to recover some things, then delete it when I'm done?

I'm not well versed on SS so I can't answer that question with any level of confidence. Sorry, just not my area of expertise.

I'm confused by the menu choices after selecting (1) INSTALL 232.
I already did (1) Push the update to sdcard-ext.
Now I can either select (2) to reboot, followed by manual update steps provided in (4) *OR* select (3) to Flash phone with 323\HouseOfBionic_install
What does this third option do, just automates the reboot and manual flash (2)+(4)?
