Samuri...For Starters...HUGE THANKS. This new script has been a dream come true. Running .238 and no loss of apps or data....Bloody brilliant mate. I did notice something funky though the other day, and I wasn't sure where to start. I went to load CWM, as I just havn't been digging safestrap. Anyway....ROM Manager APP loaded it, shows it installed, but CWM wasn't working. Started poking around and I found that some how, the old GingerBread Stock Recovery became loaded back on my phone. My buddy and I think that might be why I have some goofiness is that arena. When I have ICS Lead .235 on their, it was ICS Stock Recovery, but for some reason I now have the old GB stock recovery. Anyone else reporting this? Is this maybe a bug in the new leak or did something weird happened when I REINSTALLED 238? Should I try to re-install 238? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks again for all your support to the community!!!
HUH....that's definitely different. I actually pulled recovery from 238...that was the update to 4.2 that I did....to include those and use it for REINSTALL if it's there. For me it's definitely an ICS recovery. AFAIK, though, it shouldn't affect CWR at all. I just checked the signature on the 238 recovery.img and it matches what 238 is looking for. Maybe they screwed up I don't know....I'll send you a PM with the CWR I use and see if that works for you. If ROM Manager thinks its version is installed, it'll still work with this new one. Let me know if this helps.
I tried this several times now with same results. I am following all the steps verbatim, attempting to go to 232. The 905 flash goes fine, then the 232 install from sd-ext appears to go through all the patching steps and completes without error. The last thing is says is "Install from sdcard complete". However, when I wipe the cache and reboot after this, I'm back to the fastboot menu with "AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure)" at the top.
I then have to FXZ back to 905 to recover. I've read the instructions and steps a bunch of times to make sure I'm not missing a step, but still can't figure it out. Has anyone ran into this? Please help?
Oops, never mind. After the flash was done, cache wiped and rebooted, it was always coming back to the fastboot menu with failure message. At that point I always assumed it bricked and I would FXZ back to 905 and try again. This time I turned it off at that point, brought up the menu and selected "normal boot", then it went through and started the upgrade. Now it's "Upgrading Media database" and has been doing it for almost two hours. Is that normal?
Oh the media update thing. Yea, that can take a LONNNNNGGGG time. You will need to fix that AP Fastboot error though. It'll do that every time you reboot the phone until you fix it. I would extract the cdt.bin from the 232 update in the 232 folder and flash that with moto-fastboot:
Reboot into AP Fastboot then run this command after extract the cdt.bin:
You know what, im just getting sick of vzw. Theyre so expensive with their plans and data that it makes me envy people like my brother who has a smart phone with unlimited data, calling, texts, and only pays $50 a month w/o a contract!
Its one of those ghetto carriers but still thats an amazing price. I pay close to 80 a month and have to deal with the HORRIBLE customer service verizon offers.
I take issue with what you said there. "having to install leaks." First off, we don't have to. We could patiently wait for the OTA. Second, Moto would prefer we didn't. Leaks aren't released for a reason. Usually it's because it's truly not ready. We've had _8_ bionic leaks at the time of this writing. You really think that the first leak was "ready"? Now, the issue of VZW taking so damn long to push it OTA once Moto feels it's ready IS an issue. But that's an issue for every phone on VZW...
