[ROM] Zero Blur! Zero Lag! rubiX Focused 1.0

Cell Standby?

Wondering whats up with the cell standby stats in battery manager- when I was talking to Ang in IRC about this issue on Fission, he was making it sound like it's not actually using up as much battery as BM is saying it is... However it did seem to me like my full charge didn't last me as long today on my first full day on 1.0.

Drod, Sephtin, anyone: what's the official word on this?

Link me if you've answered this somewhere else... Thanks.

I am wondering the same thing. I have standby 60% and idle of 9%. Surely there is a issue with battery manager. I am waiting for my question in the same matter to be answered.

Check these themes out guys! Support these themers, they put a lot of work in them!

It's great that you have some theme devs to support this rom.

but i have a few questions.

Why will the standard themes not work?
can it be made to work?

My concern is that if more people do "custom" roms then everyone has to have tailored themes, it will then take away from the theme community as a whole.
theme devs will be less likely to develop 10 versions of the same theme to support all the custom roms and more likely to make 1 version to support all the roms.

thoughts?

Any ways to get that Black Bar mod in your theme post to have a transparent white background instead of solid white?

Yes there is. Here is a link to instructions on changing the background. I just did it. And it worked great. You can use one (background) from the XDA post- they are transparent- but kind of dark...

How-To: Droid in Notification Drop Down Bar - xda-developers

if you would like to use the original I uploaded it to my dropbox account...

Of course I take no responsibility blah blah blah... ...it worked great on my phone.

Awesome, thank you very much!

You are welcome. You can also replace the status bar icons this way. I much preferred the rubix1 icons (no offense to the black bar themer- just personal taste).

The process is long and tedious. Pull the original images from the framework-res.apk in "movable-hdpi" (I think) and then use this process to start replacing images. So far I have got all my battery images back to Rubix. A lot more to go.

Any one know why my gtalk will not work? Keeps fc

Try clearing data/cache, and give it another shot.. should hopefully fix it.
Menu> Applciations> Manage Applications> all tab> gtalk> clear data, and clear cache, then restart it.

How can we get a camcorder button. Unless I'm missing something, the only way I can get to the camcorder is pressing the camera button first, then switching it to camcorder.

Great question!!!

The standard themes will not work, and currently can cause boot loop issues.
They will not be made to work without re-writing them.

Your concern is a HUGE one! BUT.. here's what most people don't already know...

A theme isn't just settings for what colors and images for what icons are used that are stored someplace. Themes actually REPLACE APPLICATIONS ON YOUR PHONE, with themed versions of those files!!!

So.. when you theme ANY ROM... Files aren't being modified, they're being REPLACED. Lots of people theme a blurless rom, and .. don't notice the difference, other than having a few duplcate applications, because stuff have been added back. but you're now using applications that came with the theme, rather than applications that came with the ROM. I have helped tons of people with issues that were caused by themeing ROMs over the last couple months...

If you want all themes to work on all phones, then you'd be stuck never able to change any of the default interface applications. So rather than designing ROMs to work with themes... Themes are developed to work with ROMs.

It's not rubiX's fault.. all blurless ROMs, should only use blurless themes.. that's always been the case.. just that ROMs previously were close enough to their Blurry ancestry that the Blued themes would .. kinda work.

With Focused 1.0, this isn't Kansas anymore, the root code is significantly different enough, that themes aren't going to work without some modifications...

Hope this explains better.. ?

lovin it...

Here's my Homescreen and Notification bar, courtesy of LP, BlackBar (JsinLegacy), and the dropdown mod that was just posted on the previous page from XDA...

I tend to favor the simpler looks, not a whole lot of widgets. I'm diggin it.

** EDIT: OH YEAH, and courtesy of Drod and his badass ROM. :-)

It does - and actually I did realize that apps are themed and replaced, but am confused as to how/why they won't work.

if the app itself is themed, lets say the dialer.
then why wouldn't that app work in another rom?
is it dependent on a custom framework-res?

thanks for the info!

"standard" themes will not work because they use the standard framework and services.jar

this rom has a modified framework-res.apk and services.jar, that causes it to not function properly. Aside from this rom using compiled apps instead of stock, motorola apps (even the non blur ones), the framework changes alone will cause it to bootloop. Take framework-res.apk from 2.3.15 leak and replace my framework-res with that one. Guarantee you will bootloop :)

My phone app will not work with another rom except for fission, because currently these two are the only two rom's to use a phone app OTHER than blurphone.

The majority of themes will work with the majority of roms, but AOSP or AOSP-like roms are a different breed. As this rom has a full AOSP app folder aside from 4 or so apps, it would break function to replace them with non aosp apps, and same goes for the framework :)

make a little more sense?

Well, I used "framework" in a general term. Most of the core apps use parts of the "framework" in different way... (framework not limited to, but including the /system/framework/. /system/lib/. , etc. files)...
An example, is the keyboard .apk file using /system/lib/libjni_latinime.so... Different versions of the keyboard, require a different version of the .lib file for example... so just changing the .apk can have a drastic effect, if the underlying files are of completely different versions.

You're on the right track. Hell, I honestly wish I had more resources at to what directly affects what.. without reading the 4billion page "quick start guide to Android programming"... ;) lol.

I installed Gala X theme on top of Rubix 1.0 for the hell of it, and it themed alot of stuff (status bar, etc)...not everything obviously, but looks better ;) and running smooth.

I also actually like the galax theme with blackmod status bar (clear pulldown) and clear unlock tabs.. so that's why i was asking..

but yeah that makes more sense.
thanks!
