Use what you like and never feel the need to defend or get others to see why you made your choice. Droid, iPhone, Mac, PC, bondage, cuddling little kittens - all is good with the world.

*slap*

The safety word is Droid.

Well Im Kinda happy its coming. Gets old hearing rumors and stuff. Id rather just get it over with. But I Dont think it will hurt android to much. Maybe a little hit at first. But I dont think this is gonna crush them. They just have to many cool new phones coming out that are better than anything on the market. In the long run I think its good to have competition like this. Most of the time it only makes stuff for us users better

Yep, perhaps most importantly it will discourage mfrs from overlaying inferior UI's on their devices - if you can't make a good UI don't make one at all!

I think we may see more of the premium android phones on tmobile and sprint in the future. at&t I'm sure will step up too.

choice is great but I'm concerned for what apple will pressure vzw to do with droid devices.

I'm glad to see the competition from the carriers. I think it will help all of us. I just wonder if the included iPhone wifi hotspot will cost extra or be included with the data plan. If they go that route, I would hope they open it up for the Droid users also, or expect lots of complaints.

glad it's coming.
kinda bummed they're not allowing early upgrades.
I'm still in love with my original Droid so not really TOO upset.

I'll just have to get a Bionic in august when my upgrade is up :D

So VZW is going to yield to pressure with a large installed base of Android phones and no installed IPhone base, and not AT&T which has just the opposite???

So I'm reading Droid-life.com and the comments regarding his chart...and a LOT of Android people are sounding REALLY dire about the hate towards the iphone..

KELLEX [Droid-life owner] --
People will go buy the iPhone 4 the day it's released because they don't know any better. Now they do.

Some Guy From Engadget:
First of all you are saying that the iPhone 4 is old hardware, but we really need to look at how fast the iPhone ages vs Android. The iPhone is guaranteed to get new software for the next two years, whereas on android you have to hope you get any update. Dual core? How many apps on the android phone are going to be able to take advantage of that hardware. The hardware is only as good as the software. Android still is buggy (I had a Droid X), so is the iPhone (especially in the keyboard), but there are still less bugs on the iPhone then there are on android. Android wins in customization of the home screen no doubt. And Kellex, there are many people (like me) who will buy the iPhone 4 knowing there will be a new one soon because we are willing to pay off contract. I sold my Droid X (kept my og droid) for 400, will buy the iPhone 4 off contract, and then buy the iPhone 5 (or android if there is a better phone software and hardware wise than the iPhone, unlike many other readers I am open to new options and not restricted to a single android mindset) in October when my contract is up. I realize I am in a special situation but there are many people who would rather not wait knowing their iPhone will be supported for many years to come. Before I get 20 replies saying that I am a troll, I am not. I believe android and iOS are both very good operating systems but FOR ME, the iPhone is better. By the way, what idiot made the chart, what android os does the iPhone run :-(.

So many Valid points made.

Which I thought summed up the ENTIRE day...

"let's be mature about this. More you guys discredit the iPhone, more it tells me how threatened by some of us are by what iPhone started in its first place. Why can't we just embrace having all the great smartphones on one of the most reliable network and celebrate? When it all comes down to it, it's all about personal preference.

I can't wait to find out what iPhone 5 will feature and I know for certain that I'm not the only one, but I'm sure most of us that read this won't be man enough to admit it. Such a shame. Go Android phones and go iPhone!"

For the majority of the day, about 7am until about 3pm EST I couldn't get any 3G service. No browser, no email, no apps that required a data connection. I could make calls and text though. I am not sure if it had any correlation with the conference today. But it was with my droid pro and my cousin had the same problem on his Droid X.

I was thinking it was an omen as to what's to come when the iPhone is released to the masses on VZW

Fact is... if 4g wasnt announced... a lot of Android people would be a hell of a lot more threatened. I'm VERY content with my Droid X, however I'm not going to sit here and make the Thunderbolt or the Bionic superior..because it mysteriously has 4g..which nobody has tested, seen or heard from. Just not going to do that to save face. Got to be real with yourself. Whatever suits you, get it. But dont bash others because Blackberry Messenger [lol] isn't the only other verizon option now.

@HeroNOVA--- Expect more of that to happen homeboy.. Verizon got the lube READY for penetrating your phone service..

I don't know. I don't really see it that way. No different than on this board. I see a lot of people with an unquestionable awe of the IPhone and think the entire world feels that way and a lot of Android owners saying "no, the entire world does not feel that way". I can just as easily turn it around and say a lot of IPhone people seem dire to justify the reverence they hold for the IPhone.

I mean, this debate can be summed up with a simple analogy: If Picasso took a dump on a canvas some would call it brilliant art, while others would say it quite literally is crap.
