if they put the open adroid market on it (i know wouldnt work) I MIGHT consider it but yea thats still a probably not I will keep with my D2 myself any day of the week over this thing for sure
One question i have is about the Wifi Hot Spot... are they gonna lock it down like they did on the Droid X... or are they gonna let that be free like they did with the Palm Pre... because if they let that be free... that could be a big selling point for the new Iphones... the Palm Pre is garbage but its got free wifi hot spot... so if there was a good phone that had that... that could be pretty awesome

Being excited that the iPhone is coming to Verizon when you already have an Android device, is like being excited for the new Gameboy to come out when you already have an Xbox 360.
The "app" is integrated into Ios and it will go to AT&T soon too if they (AT&T) want it. But, vzw doesn't need help selling this phone. They will sell like hotcakes. No chance they include wifi hotspot for free. Maybe a 30 day trial to get you hooked or something.
If I had known this before I got my D2 I would've been like COOL. But now I don't care, I plan on having my D2 til the early upgrade mark and then getting another ANDROID phone. Don't know which one but it'll be an HTC or Motorola for sure.
On a side note, yes it's pointless to buy one now when a brand new model will release this summer.

yeah the article is pretty ambiguous, so cant say for sure, but it does seem like its just mentioning the app is free...
i'd caution speaking with so much certainty though haha...too much of that going around....like the incessant denials that the phone was coming up until 10:59 this morning...

VZW seems to be simplifying their plans, so it would be kind of odd to make an exception for the IPhone wrt hotspot. Memory is a little foggy, but they've advertised hotspot for Android and unless there's some fine print at the end they never said you had to pay more.
Sure, it's entirely possible that Jobs negotiated them to throw it in because carriers don't pay retail for phones but they do pay something in subsidy. I think it's unlikely, though. VZW charges and arm and a leg to tether/hotspot. On the other hand, they have a lot of capacity with LTE added to the mix and being the most expensive carrier this costs them nothing to lure extra customers (i.e. pay more, but you get more).
