Verizon Set to Alter their Upgrade Policy

Its pretty self explanatory... Do I really have to spell it out? lol

No, You know the rules here on that subject.

Didnt hear anything come out of my mouth lol...

OK. Great. You can get the same exact model that you have if your's breaks. I still don't see how that's germane to the thread but maybe it's me.

Maybe you should read up more about Bestbuys insurance policy... ;)

That's called Insurance Fraud my friend. If you phone breaks "legitimately" and BestBuy CHOOSES to replace it for another model that's their prerogative. But "purposely" damaging your phone to get a replacement is wrong! I don't care who you are. Verizon warranty or Best Buy.

Besides this thread is about VZW removing the annual upgrade option and stopping the NE2 discounts. NOT warranties. Not to be a A** but, just saying. Post about that. ;)

Ok...I am eligable for my upgrade on Feb 7th...does this mean I won't get it?

What it means. ANYONE who has a annual upgrade available can use it now or ANYTIME now or even after the 16th of Jan. But once they renew a new 2 yr contract they cannot upgrade again on a discounted price for phones until 2 yrs are up.

I know that, but the normal warranty covered the main life of the phone, now it only covers half the phone. This is ripped off because this really forces you to buy that extended warranty.

Whats the point of warranty if you have insurance?

Who said I had insurance? No point when I had the warranty.

If u drop ur phone and break it, the warranty wont cover it. Thats the point insurance.

Slow your roll kid, dont have a nervous breakdown on me who said anything about purposely breaking my phone?

No, thats just you assuming.

It looks like they are trying to force us who are eligible for an upgrade to buy what is available now.. I will not be forced to buy now I will wait for Dual Core!!!!

... I never asked what the point of insurance was. I know that already. Insurance to me is a rip off, i take care of my stuff and would never use insurance. How did we get talking about insurance guys? My original comment said nothing about insurance, I have never said i had nor was confused about insurance. My statement is about the factory warranty. If im stuck with a phone for 2 years, then that means the phone that they are selling me must have a plan to be good for 2 years (otherwise Verizon would just be downright trying to get people to pay for the extra charges for upgrading early becuase their selling people phones that are only made to last a year) The normal warranty is usually 1 year and it will fix things like software and hardware defects that happen with the phone...yes that doesnt cover being dropped, but if the thing flat out quits working then normally i can take it doen to VZ and get it replaced. now that i have to wait 2 years, the second year isnt covered by this.... Just saying.

VZW was the only carrier that had this policy, anyway. My previous carrier wouldn't let you upgrade until your exact contract expired date.

as long as I'm grandfathered in with my Annual upgrade (as it's already available I've just been waiting for a worthy device) I'm ok for now. I will only be signing 1 yr contracts from now on however.

It is what it is, and we must make the most of the options available.

I've never understood all these different policies. I'm just hoping I can use an annual upgrade soon (have never used one) and then at the end of the year my 2-yr contract is up and I can get on a new 1-yr plan and hopefully get a new phone at that time.

Unless I'm missing something, there's now no incentive to be on a 2-yr plan and the question is how do you get off that cycle?

if you have a 2yr contract, the annual upgrade was only available if your base monthly plan was 49.99 or more. (not including texting and/or data)

Verizon was never openly promoting this, it was something you had to have been told by a CS rep or found out on your own.

After this announcement though, the 2yr agreement's only benefit seems to be the 70 bucks cheaper you can buy a phone for, other than that I fail to find one.

To get out of the 2 yr cycle.... let your 2 yrs expire and then only sign 1 yr agreements.... or if you're less than 12 months from the end of you 2 yr agreement you might be able to switch to a 1 yr, but I'm not sure.
